What We Do

We’ll Take You Cycling Through Romagna

Slow Bike Tourism  is a network of businesses born from a shared passion for cycling. We offer authentic cycle-tourism experiences in Romagna, where every pedal stroke becomes a discovery: of the land, its traditions, its culture, its mosaics, and the food and wine excellence that defines it.

For us, touching the land with your wheels is more than cycle tourism. It’s a mindful experience where you slow down, observe, taste, and connect. From the saddle, you follow routes designed to move at your own pace, stopping to enjoy good food, fine wine, and the beauty of art and history.

While you pedal, we take care of everything else — so you can focus on nothing but the pleasure of the journey.

Romagna is the quintessential “gentle land,” and the bicycle is its soul. Cycling here isn’t just a sport: it’s a deep cultural phenomenon, rooted in the history of its people. Craftsmen, families, farm workers — for generations, the bike has been their means of living and discovering.

Great Romagnol writers such as Olindo Guerrini and Alfredo Oriani found inspiration on these very two wheels. And that’s no coincidence: from a bike, the land reveals its true essence.

Cycling through Romagna is like traveling through time. Discover medieval castles, the remains of an imperial age, and hidden corners where history still breathes. But it’s not only about the past: it’s the wine, the food, the culture alive today.

With this spirit, we design itineraries that let you savor all of it — the wind, the flavors, the beauty, the history — one pedal stroke at a time.

Romagnol cuisine is famous the world over. It won’t help you lose weight, but it’s a delight for the soul and the palate.

The local pasta dishes are extraordinary — hearty soups and hand-rolled pasta have been the cornerstone of Romagnol food culture for centuries. In 1913, the first catalogue of this “people’s cuisine” was compiled, preserving traditions we bring back as an essential companion to every ride.

Then there’s the piadina — a thin wheat-flour flatbread cooked on a terracotta griddle, described by poet Giovanni Pascoli as “the bread of the Romagnols.”

Drawing on Romagna’s rich folk culture, you can savor a whole range of delicious traditional dishes. And of course, no meal is complete without the right wine to go with it. Let yourself be tempted by:

Sangiovese di Romagna — a DOC wine and the region’s signature grape, whose name local tradition traces back to “Sanctum Zeus,” the god Jupiter beloved by the Romans.
Albana di Romagna — Italy’s first white wine to receive DOCG status, alongside Trebbiano and Pinot among the pillars of Romagna’s winemaking heritage.
Bursòn — produced from a rare native grape variety, a true gem of local winemaking.

The table is set — all that’s left is for you to come and taste it.

Romagna sits at a crossroads between the Apennines and the Adriatic — a land steeped in history and culture, where extraordinary events unfolded and illustrious figures shaped the course of Italian and European civilization.

In Ravenna, you walk in step with kings and emperors beneath the glow of Byzantine mosaics. In Cesena, you can almost hear the echoes of the battles of Italian unification. In Faenza, along the ancient Via Emilia, you cross paths with the troops of Napoleon, who came to change the world. In Forlì, you witness the splendor of the Middle Ages. From the hills above Rimini, you can picture the Roman legions massing on the plain below, preparing for battle against the Celts. Then come the Este family in lower Romagna, and Caterina Sforza…

Garibaldi and his wife Anita fulfilled the destiny of the Risorgimento along the legendary escape route. There are stories of Etruscans who once settled along the river known in antiquity as the Eridanus, whose valleys still speak of ancient worlds.

A magical crossroads of ruins, stories, and adventures — all best explored from the saddle of a bike.

On a bike, the world slows down — and stops.
No more thoughts, no more worries.
You watch everything drift past calmly beneath your eyes and your wheels.
You feel the sun, the wind, even the rain, and you meet people along the way.
You fill up on images and impressions.
There’s nothing to plan — you can simply surrender to the journey, to discovery.
Your mind is free.
You rediscover a balance you’d forgotten, the one you had as a child — and like a child, you laugh at simple things, sharing a joke with your fellow riders.
This state of freedom lasts the length of a single ride, or an entire journey. And in this welcoming land, you find the relaxation and wellbeing you were looking for.
